St James Audio Flood

Walking up the steps at St James station in Sydney on April 2, 2017, I heard what sounded like river rapids. But I was in a fairly nondescript stairwell.

The aquatic world under the CBD is interesting, but St James is really the epi-centre. With the tankstream making its way from Hyde Park (where St James station is situated) down the hill to the North West, tracking through the CBD (approx. along Pitt St) to Circular Quay, but also a large unused railway tunnel that has turned into a lake… I can only assume that what I was hearing was water running from a pipe into a more cavernous space that amplified it in such a way it sounded like a river or waterfall.
