A new development near the chocolate shop at the southern end of Illawarra Road required (?) a new stormwater drain. Actually, during the East Coast Low of early 2017 the whole area “blew out” due to water pressure and earth movement, and the pedestrian path partially collapsed. No one was injured.
I am not sure if this was a revised design after that event or if the developers just made the drain construction a priority. We also got a new bike ramp. I haven’t done any investigation into the order of events of who is paying for what. It might be interesting! I “feel” like the developer is paying for the public infrastructure as a trade off for developing so close to the river, but I don’t know. What is also interesting is watching the sludge slowly accrue on the clean concrete!
