Stormwater #1: Sydenham Pit & Pumping Station

I’m increasingly convinced that my project is actually about stormwater management/storm surges/planning/climate change. I’m interested in how storm surges are being planned for and also the history and development of stormwater management strategies. There are so many stories to be told and so many places from which to begin the telling.

Today I am fortunate enough to be taking Dr Lindsay Kelley’s “Speculative Futures” class from UNSWAD to visit the Sydenham Drainage Pit and Pumping Station. I am going to talk about the history of the site and the way sites like this shape the way we imagine the future.
